Artist Bio
Megan Kathol Bersett was born in 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska. She studied at the Marchutz School of Art in Aix-en-Provence, France and earned her BFA from Truman State University, where she received the Outstanding BFA award. In 2001, she moved to the Czech Republic, and then Costa Rica in 2003. She painted and traveled extensively in each of these areas, and her explorations and experiences have had a profound affect on her work.
The artist now lives with her husband just north of Santa Fe, in Chimayo, New Mexico. She is currently working on several projects which all explore the separation and connection that we experience as part of lifes interrelated processes. Her work has an ineffable quality, as she abstracts and recontextualizes the fluctuating systems and structures seen and unseen that surround us daily, to the point where subject matter is enigmatic and interchangeable. She hopes her paintings will spark curiosity in the viewer and encourage contemplation and identification of our part in these systems.
